David Ross is a New York based actor and writer. Born in Los Angeles, California his interest in acting solidified in high school when he became very involved with Speech and Debate, and was ranked among the top five performers in the country, back to back his last two years in the National Forensic League. He also was the recipient of the Wayne E. Brown national award, and is a California State Champion.
AS AN ACTOR:
David graduated from the University of California at Berkeley where he won the Mark Goodson Prize for Distinguished Theatrical Talent. He also studied in London at the British American Drama Academy during his undergraduate time.
After Berkeley, he received his MFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts' Graduate Acting Program. Upon leaving NYU, in his first year he acted opposite Joaquin Phoenix and Gwyneth Paltrow in the film Two Lovers, directed by James Gray. He also was featured on ABC's series Cashmere Mafia, and acted in the New York Times Critic's Pick Vengeance at the Cherry Lane Theatre.
David has acted in many Off Broadway and regional theaters where he has originated and workshopped new roles by Anne Washburn, Lucas Hnath, Gina Gionfriddo, Dorothy Fortenberry, Jason Grote, Adam Rapp, Deb Laufer, Philip Himberg, Megan Mostyn Brown, Edith Freni, Cusi Cram, Samuel D. Hunter, Christopher Chen and Ron Fitzgerald. David has worked with so many incredible directors including Les Waters, Lila Neugebauer, Steve Cosson, David Auburn, Tyne Rafaeli, Rebecca Taichman, James Naughton, Alex Kilgore, and Evan Cabnet amongst so many brilliant others.
David has also starred on an episode of the first season of The Good Wife on CBS, opposite Archie Panjabi. In the film The Rebound, David acts opposite Catherine Zeta Jones in a small scene of Bart Freundlich's film. David also starred in the Academy Award Winning Short Film God of Love, directed by Luke Matheny. David appeared on Mozart in The Jungle and is a regular in the Fast Company comedy series. In the Indie world, David acted in the independent film The Weekend, and was a lead in the short film People Are Becoming Clouds, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
David has been in many TV commercials and done voice over work on numerous TV, internet and radio spots. Commercially, David has found himself acting almost exclusively with football stars he knows very little about.
